Spider-Man III
Spider-Man 3: Invasion of the Spider-Slayers is the third video game released by Acclaim Entertainment for the original Game Boy based on the comic book hero of the same name. The game was released in 1993 and is similar in style and format to The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
The storyline of the game follows the contemporary comic book storyline; Spider-Man is being attacked by an assortment of high-tech robot Spider-Slayers. As was the case with Spider-Man 2, the player has to control Spider-Man through various levels, fighting enemies and super villains while also trying to solve various types of puzzles.
In the first level the player has to distinguish between criminals in the park and men just reading a newspaper in the park. After defeating enough real thugs Spider-Man will take on the 1st boss, a Spider Slayer. After defeating it you'll have to traverse to the top of a building and fight another Spider Slayer, this time in the form of a huge robotic bird. In the next stage Spider-Man will then go up against Electro and after defeating him you'll have to go through The Tinkerer's lab to come face to face with Scorpion. Once he's defeated you make your way to the next stage and fight another Spider Slayer and then the final stage where you take on the one behind it all, Alistair Smythe.
The controls are as follows:
Left/Right - Move left and right.
Left/Right when web swinging - Swing left and right.
Left/Right in a double-jump - If going to a wall, sticks on wall.
Up - Enter a doorway.
Up/Down on a web rope or wall - Climb up and down the rope/wall.
Up + A - Shoot web-swinging ropes upward.
Down - Crouch down; use Left/Right while holding to crawl.
Down + B - Shoot weapon webs in direction you are facing.
A - Kick attack. Can be done while crouching; use with Up + Left/Right on D-Pad to shoot swinging webs; use after holding Up on D-Pad to shoot climbing webs.
B - Press once to jump; press twice to double-jump; cancel web-swinging; jump off something you're climbing on (i.e. walls); use with Down on D-Pad to shoot webs.
A -> B -> A... - Press A to swing from a web, B at swing's end, and repeat.
Start - Open pause menu.
*TIP*
Spider-Man 3 on the original Game Boy is known for its high difficulty and punishing combat. Master the Double Jump: Press B twice to jump higher and further. This is essential for navigating levels and avoiding enemies!
